Amaze Film + Television is an award-winning production company based in Toronto. It was founded in 2000 by writers/producers Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence. We partner with companies across Canada and around the world to produce market-driven films and television, with strong ties in Los Angeles, New York and Europe.
Amaze recently finished production of the second season of its half-hour multi camera series, “The Stanley Dynamic” for YTV.
Recently, our television half-hour comedy “Call Me Fitz,” completed four seasons for HBO Canada and the Audience Network in the US. The show won Best Comedy at the 2015 and 2014 Canadian Screen Awards and 2014 DGC Awards, has sold into 192 territories, and has continued to win many awards, including multiple Best Comedy Actor awards for Jason Priestley.
On the film front, our latest feature documentary, “Being Canadian,” hit the iTunes top 10 during the week of its Canadian release and world premiere at the 2015 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. The comedy documentary continues to draw appeal, adding additional screenings to each festival it takes part in by popular demand. In addition to Hot Docs, the doc has screened at the Nantucket Film Festival and the Traverse City Film Festival among others, and is set to have back-to-back US theatrical releases in Los Angeles and New York in September 2015.
“Finn on the Fly,” won the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film at the 2009 Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children, a Best Independent Feature Film Award at the 2009 KIDS FIRST! Film Festival and sold to Disney US and Disney International.
Amaze’s first film, “Saint Ralph,” premiered at the 2004 Toronto International Film Festival, won the Grand Prix at the 2005 Paris Film Festival, received a 2006 Genie nomination for Best Feature Film and was distributed theatrically around the world.
